Step Up to Independence Program is a transitional housing program at Save the Family. Due to the size of the units, families with more than five individuals will not be considered. This program is intended to assist families experiencing housing instability.
The Step Up to Independence Program is designed to support your family in achieving long-term self-sufficiency. As a participant, you will sign a program agreement and commit to the following requirements of the program;
- Maintain consistent employment while in the program
- Consistent participation with Save the Family case management and wrap around services team
- Timely payment of occupancy fee
- Increasing your income to meet your family’s budget and sustain housing after the program
- Reducing existing debt
- Avoiding new debt during the program (e.g., car loans, new credit cards, or rent-to-own furniture)
- Improving your credit score
- Work toward transitioning upon exit to long term housing on your own
Failure to comply with program requirements will result in termination of the program, and the need to vacate housing.
